All About Seams Like A Dream

    Seams Like A Dream Quilt Designs is a collaboration between two friends, Kate Colleran and Elizabeth Balderrama, who wanted to share their love of fabric, design and quilting with others.

    Elizabeth has dabbled in quilting for 25 years. Her first quilt was a tied tree skirt. Her next project was a kindergarten version of a signature handprint baby quilt for her son's teacher. As she pursued a Certificate in Therapeutic Recreation, she guided a group of elderly ladies as they made a hand appliquéd wall hanging for their retirement home. Needless to say, Elizabeth's quilting experiences span the generations.

    Kate made her first quilt in 1978 for a cousin’s baby. It was made out of soft pastel flannels. Kate continued to make a few quilts over the years in between the demands of college, career, marriage and kids. Then in 1990, Kate started working at a local VNA where there were many quilters. A group was formed, quilts were made for group members and then quilts were made to raffle off to raise money to provide services to patients. It was great fun and Kate was hooked on quilting!

    Then in 2000, Kate went to work at a nursing home and met Elizabeth. Their mutual love of fabric, quilting and creativity sparked many a coffee break conversation. Chatting turned to dreaming, and dreaming became a reality in February 2003 when they launched their pattern business, Seams Like a Dream Quilt Designs. Things got a little crazy when Elizabeth moved out of state to Syracuse NY in September of 2004 but with email, cell phones and the internet, the business is going strong!

    Kate and Elizabeth have enjoyed working with their local quilt shops, meeting fellow quilt enthusiasts and sharing their designs. Their business has been a dream come true!
